Faces of Baseballtown Interviews
Interviews with the faces that you see
when you come to an R-Phils game
Meet
Recycling Man - During the 2008 season, the Reading Phillies had found the
thing that FirstEnergy Stadium was missing. With all of the
talks about going green and taking care of the earth, along came one
man, with one mission.
That
man is "Recycling Man!" His mission is to make sure
every fan in attendance at an R-Phils game uses the new blue
recycling containers to recycle their plastics. You
will see him walking the stands, strutting through the concourse
helping fans save the world one piece at a time.
Recently we tracked down the Recycling Man and asked him a few
questions...
Your one true mission is to save the world one piece at a time. What made you start this one-man goal to save the earth through recycling?
Recycling man was summoned by the people of the earth to help save them because they were being tortured by his sworn enemy -- The
Trash Monster. When all the messages came in from planet earth about this horrid creature terrorizing the earth, I knew there was only one thing to do. Recycling man had to leave his planet and relocate to planet earth. Thus -- Recycling Man was born.
Where did this mission begin with you (what’s your hometown)?
Recycling Man resides in Reading, specifically Wyomissing. No one shall know his secret identity though.
Last year was your first season where your recycling saving skills were utilized here at FirstEnergy Stadium. How has your mission gone so far at the stadium?
The fans at First Energy were a bit confused about who and what Recycling Man is and what he does. They have all gotten used to him and know exactly what his mission is -- to save them from the
Trash Monster -- who has not been seen since Recycling Man arrived on earth.
What are your favorite moments when you’re working at the Reading Phillies games as Recycling Man?
Recycling Man, while saving the earth, very much enjoys posing for pictures with the fans and signing autographs. He also enjoys running through the stands and making himself known while being introduced at the same time.
You have a new look this year. Can you talk about your new Super Hero outfit?
Recycling Man was summoned on the spot by the people of earth. He had no time to make himself look super hero-ish. Since he's been on the planet for quite some time now he has had time to put together the best Recycling Man
outfit ever.
Kids look up to super heroes, so when you were a young Recycling Man, who did you look up to?
Recycling man is his own hero.
Is there anything in closing that you would you like to say to your biggest fans, the kids of Baseballtown?
Kids, the mission of Recycling Man is to help save the earth from the dreaded trash monster. You can help me doing this. RECYCLE.
You can recycle paper, plastics, and so much more. When your at
FirstEnergy stadium and I'm not in sight make sure you throw away your plastics
in the blue recycling bins throughout the stadium. Remember that I'm
always watching, and that Recycling Man will always be on the earth and will be standing close by for whenever the trash monster may show his hideous face.
